Fortunately for me, Greater Scaup are much, much more common in this area. In fact, it\u2019s not unusual to spot <a href=\"http:\/\/naturalcrooks.com\/rambles\/huge-floating-flock-ducks-oakville-lake-ontario\/\"><strong>a raft of hundreds or even thousands<\/strong><\/a> of them.<\/p>\n<p>This is a male Greater Scaup. In fact I have never knowingly seen a Barrow\u2019s Goldeneye, although I keep hoping. If you look at images online, you\u2019ll see Barrow\u2019s have a differently shaped white mark on the face.<\/p>\n<p>This is a male Common Goldeneye. I keep scanning the flocks I see, hoping to catch a glimpse of a Barrow\u2019s Goldeneye or a Lesser Scaup.
