I used to think I was a very skillful photographer when I caught images of certain warblers. Eventually as I learned more about birds, I realized that I was only good at photographing The Posers. The aptly-named Black and White Warblers are a prime example of The Posers.
Be Not Afraid For I Am No Threat To You
Black and White Warblers are great examples of Posers. They will hunt for food very close to humans without shying away.
They like to walk along bare branches, stopping to look around.
Just Dropping In for a Snack
While they can fly and dart after insects, they often don’t bother, preferring the slow steady approach.
They are bare bark and branch hunters, climbing tree trunks and walking and hopping steadily along wider tree branches.
Spring is coming and with it, a few glorious days of photographing warblers. One of my favourites will be these small photogenic Black and Whites.
I look forward to adding to my collection of their best poses.
